About

Lara G. Elmore

She's not at Wikipedia level (yet!), so she made her own.

Lara G. Elmore (born 1988) is a biracial American author of paranormal and contemporary romance, celebrated for her emotionally intense, multi-love-interest stories in the Why Choose genre. She publishes under three pen names: Lara G. Elmore (paranormal romance), Lara Grace (contemporary romance), and L.G. Elmore (dark/speculative shorts). Her works are known for their flawed heroines, slow-burn bonds, and trope-subverting structure that always rejects the love triangle in favor of everyone getting what (and who) they want.

Early Life and Background

A Jersey girl through and through, she’s equally at home in city shoes or country boots and maintains that everything in Jersey is technically 45 minutes away. She has British roots on her mother’s side and proudly claims Asbury Park as her favorite beach. Diagnosed with ADHD and major depressive disorder, she frequently explores themes of identity, mental health, and resilience in her characters.

Career

Lara began writing seriously during NaNoWriMo 2019, self-publishing her debut novel Arranged in March 2020. That book is currently undergoing revision and will be re-released under her Lara Grace pen name.

Initially contributing short stories to anthologies, Elmore’s writing flourished on Kindle Vella before the platform’s discontinuation. Since then, she has published a growing catalog of novellas, full-length novels, and interconnected series, often blending emotional recovery with high-stakes supernatural or contemporary worlds.

Known for trope-subversion, slow-burn romance, and tangled emotional arcs, Lara creates worlds where Fate lays out demands, but the heroine always decides. Her readers come for the banter, stay for the bonds, and binge because the heroine doesn’t have to choose.

Prevalent Themes

Across all pen names, Lara’s work embraces:

  • Heartbreak and healing

  • Supernatural politics and found families

  • Reluctant heroines and slow-burn tension

  • Trauma-informed character arcs

  • Polyamorous dynamics and emotional depth

  • Strong Family Bonds (sometimes with the family you choose!)

She actively avoids love triangle drama, favoring fully developed, emotionally earned bonds. Why should the heroine have to choose?

Personal Life

Outside of writing, Lara is a paralegal, mother of three, and creative polymath. She enjoys the multi-faceted nature of the law almost as much as she loves getting lost in a good book—because readers make the best authors.

In her free time, Lara enjoys reading spicy romance, crocheting, DAZ 3D design, and dancing (though her knees are less enthusiastic these days). A lifelong lover of vampires, she cites The Originals, the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and Black Dagger Brotherhood as some of her paranormal inspirations.

(Reliable sources suggest she’s still reading instead of cleaning her house.) [citation needed]
